American
Wanderers and Solar Youth
I wanted to thank you both for having a
vision for youth to learn about and enjoy nature. American
Wanderers and Solar Youth are to be commended for teaching our
children to love Mother Earth.
My son Elijah has spent his last
three or four summers learning about the environment and
ecosystems with Solar Youth. This past August 2011 he was given
the opportunity to travel via recreational vehicle with American
Wanderers and The Kimberly Family. The two week adventure was
just that an adventure!
In addition to travelling across the
country, Elijah made new frienships. He learned about The
Lakota Path and travelled to Montana, Wyoming, So.Dakota, and
Colorado learning at every stop. Visiting National Parks and
other historical landmarks was an experience of a lifetime. To
see Mt. Rushmore in a textbook is one thing, but to climb Mt.
Rushmore is an experience not to be forgotten. Visiting such
picturesque places gives inner-city children the chance to
envision the world outside of their small communities.
Seeing actual buffalo roam and Pronghorn
Antelope roaming around in their natural surroundings at Custer
Park was awesome, as Elijah loves animals. He also glowed at the
chance to let loose jumping into Cascade Falls. There were so
many amazing places they visited like Devils Tower, The Wind
Cave, and Harney Peak with its breathtaking views. I was amazed
by The Vore Buffalo Jump and the excavation that is currently
going on there now.
Every now and then Elijah thinks of
anothe story to tell me about his learning adventure with
American Wanderers. It's great to see your child grow and learn,
thanks in part to Solar Youth and American Wanderers Summer Camp
Programs and your vision.
Thanks again for creating wonderful and
fun learning opportunities for young people to learn about the
beauty and nature that surround us.
Sincerely,
Dawn
