American Wanderer

More than Just a Summer Camp

"Education does not accomplish anything if it does not stretch your mind, if it does not force you to think about things in new ways, if it does not challenge you to examine some of your assumptions." Provost Jamshed Bharucha of Tufts University

Expand your mind, outlook and have an incredible amount of FUN on an American Wanderer Adventure.

Campers

     * The top 3 priorities of our camp are to have fun, see cool stuff and make new friends!
     * The RollingCabins have: TV, stereo, refrigerator for drinks, microwave for snacks (like popcorn), full bathroom with shower, air-conditioning and (believe it or not) heat. At 10,000 ft. the nights can get cold and the days are hot. Kick back and read a book, watch a movie, listen to music, play games or take a nap.

                                 RollingCabins

     * The food as one camper said is better than eating at home. We eat just like we do at home: tacos, burritos, burgers, pizza,  pasta and Chinese. We always have plenty to eat including fruit, vegetables and salad. All our meals are prepared by our very own     camp chef.

     * A typical day at camp offers you a wide variety of activities to choose from.  For example at Rocky Mountain National Park you can: swim in a glacier fed Mountain Lake. have a snowball fight or build a snowman in June, wander the high alpine tundra or view elk in the valley meadows, hike to the top of mountains (7 miles) or walk a short distance on a ranger led program, go on a 4-wheel drive adventure up Old Fall River Road into the mountains, visit the Stanley Museum, MacGregor Ranch Museum  or Moraine Park Museum. After dinner you can go for a swim in a heated pool, attend a park ranger-led star gazing program, watch a movie or just relax around a camp fire looking at the Rocky Mountains.

     * We travel in small groups in SUVs (with DVD players) and the average travel time is less than the length of a movie.  We move to a new Camp location every 2-3 days, stopping to explore amazing places all along our way. When we move camp you don’t need to pack and unpack each time, we take your cabin, bunk and gear with us.

     * Create memories for a lifetime. You will become a member of a very special and elite group of people that have visited the National Parks and wonders of our country.  The next time you are in a group of people ask them if they’ve ever been to Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain or Grand Canyon National Parks. Look for a smile on the faces of those that have. It doesn’t matter if they are 10 or 100 years old the memories are still as vivid, fantastic and amazing as if it was just yesterday.

     * Join us for a summer you’ll never forget. We offer a great program for kids from around the world. This summer’s adventure allows you an opportunity to explore new places, learn new things, meet people and make new friendships that will last a         lifetime.

     * Come back every summer with your friends and explore new routes with new places and new adventures.

"It is an incalculable added pleasure to any one's sum of happiness if he or she grows to
know, even slightly and imperfectly, how to read and enjoy the wonder-book of nature."

Theodore Roosevelt

A Camp Day

Don’t worry about the 7 am wake up.  We sleep in on days following late night activities like the moonlit walk to Delicate Arch.

Not up for a long walk to a glacier or mountain lake? We break up into small groups; some
play in the hot springs, others explore ghost towns and museums. Every day there is
something new and fun for everyone to do.

Camp is flexible. If you’re out having too much fun and want to do a little extra exploring, no problem. Your group can have a late dinner when you return to camp.  Want to go on a moon-lit hike or to a ranger led park program? You can eat dinner early.
