Arkansas River - exceptional whitewater rafting in
major rivers than any other
mountain range in the
Bandalier NM
- hike the Long Trail in Frijoles Canyon or walk along a mesa, viewing cavates,
petro glyphs and the Ancestral Pueblo village of Tsankawi and climb ladders to
view the Ancestral Pueblo "Long House" where for over 10,000 years
nomadic hunter-gatherers followed migrating wildlife across the mesas and
canyons.
Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks NM - hike to a slot canyon and cave loop to see
cone-shaped tent rock formations, the products of volcanic eruptions that
occurred 6 to 7 million years ago.
